The twenty-seventh of my "not uploaded till now" videos. I am to upload a series of songs that yet have to find their way onto youtube. Undoubtedly more sonic than their previous outings, Do Make Say Think's sixth studio album entitled "Other Truths" is, in the groups own words, "the ultimate distillation" of their musical message. Four tracks long, each named after one word of the groups name "Other Truths" explores various hypnotic sonic textures with their traditional distorted guitar but there is an obvious yet necessary link to be made. Each of the four tracks is markedly different in style. "Make" is a less chaotic track, a construction of more streamlined simplicity. "Say" layers guitar riffs over each other as if they are holding a conversation while "Think" is a melancholy, emotional piece that follows the axiom that less is more and in doing so creatives a thoughtful and contemplative feeling. "Do" (the track here in question) is a conventional post rocker with rises, crashes and falls but does so with great energy and an almost electronic feel. While it may not be their best work, in the same way that Mono's "Palmless Prayer/Mass Murder Refrain" wasn't theirs, it may well be the one that defines them best. Enjoy!
